The Alloa Town Centre BID has been successful in being awarded nearly £26,000 from the Scottish Governments Town Centre Communities Capital Fund 2015-16 for the development of town centre Wi-Fi.
Today’s town centre businesses and users expect to be able to connect to the internet with a fast and reliable connection wherever they are to enable them to access social media, email, internet browsing, Alloa Town Centre currently has limited 3G and 4G capability.
The Wi-Fi will be accessed through a free downloadable Alloa town centre specific app which will make it easier for visitors to find out more about town centre shops, restaurants and attractions. The app will also offer a digital platform where businesses can increase awareness and engage with the customers which ultimately will enhance the visitor experience.
Andrew Mitchell BID Manager “This is a fantastic opportunity for Alloa Town Centre BID members and visitors to have access to fast and reliable Wi-Fi which will help some beusinesses save money and generate additional sales. This saving in addition to our free weekly recycling service offered by the BID, our annual business improvement grants and events which are offered delivered throughout the year is another reason why businesses should locate in Alloa Town Centre”.
Other BID areas are using their Wi-Fi network to provide town centre CCTV at a fraction of a cost of what local authority's were being charged througout the UK.
